Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.
– Steve Jobs Apple Inc.
This quote is from his Stanford commencement address which is an inspiring video to watch. The video has some poignant anecdotes about death that speak to the drivers that were alluded to in the previous blog post on finishing projects.
If you like these type of inspirational speeches the Stanford commencement speeches of Oprah and JK Rowling (failure and imagination) Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 are also well worth the time. Steve Jobs and JK Rowling’s stories about hardship in their youth and how failures lead to their success are thought provoking to compare.
Steve’s quote is referenced in a new book which looks useful, Do More Great Work, which Pam Slim (author of Escape from Cubicle Nation) recommended in a Feb. 26 tweet.
